Germany

Augsburg was founded by the Romans and is called after the emperor Augustus. The main attraction of Augsburg consist of the medieval streets, with its many old houses. Be sure to see the Fuggerei, the world’s first social housing project for the poor. The heart of the city is the Rathausplatz, with terraces where you can have a beer in summer and a big christmas tree in winter. Other sights include the Dom, the Maximilianstrasse and the Maximilian museum. Augsburg is a nice town and deserves a visit of at least one day. It can be visited as a day trip from Munich, which is only 50 km away.
