Subways (U-Bahn) and rapid transit (S-Bahn) lines in Munich:

MVV, Munich's local passenger transport network, provides the easiest way of reaching the city center and a range of other destinations. For example, you can get to the Oktoberfest grounds (the "Theresienwiese") by taking the U4 or U5 line (to the "Theresienwiese" or "Messegelände" stops), the U3 or U6 line (to "Goetheplatz") or by taking any of the S-bahn lines 1 to 8 (to "Hackerbrücke").

You will be given reductions of up to 50% for
- City sight-seeing tours and walks

Important:
No matter whether you buy the Single Ticket for one day or the Partner Ticket for three days, please don't forget to sign your ticket and to enter the date of the day you want to start using it.

Then your ticket, together with your identity card or passport, is valid as follows:
the Single Ticket on the day entered until 6.00 am on the following day for one person
the 3-day Single and Partner Ticket from the day you have entered until 6.00 am four days later. The Partner Ticket is also valid for five persons, two of whom can be aged over 18.

For public transport from Munich airport to Munich center we recommend a MVV Single Day Ticket Total Area or a Partner Day Ticket Total Area. Both can be bought directly at the airport. In case you have the Munich Welcome Card already you need only an additional MVV Single Day Ticket Outer Area or a MVV Partner Day Ticket Outer Area at the airport. Please validate the MVV ticket and add date and signature to your Welcome Card.

The München Welcome Card is obtainable from the information offices of
The Munich Tourist Office at the Main Station (Hauptbahnhof), Bahnhofplatz 2 or in the Town Hall at Marienplatz or in many hotels and wherever you see the sticker 'München Welcome Card'.
