The ultimate fairytal, jigsaw puzzle, castle. Perched on top of a mountain this Disney like construction was built in th 19-th century Bavarian king Ludwig. He was a 19-th century version of Micheal Jackson and this is his neverland.

Neuschwanstein is 100 km by rail from Munich. Best to be explored from Fussen, where you can find transport, food and accommodation.

Hohenschwangau is another castle, older but less spectacular. Both casles can be visited on the same day. Entry for both castles costs 12 DM.
