Germany

Getting around in Heidelberg is not difficult, distances are mostly small, for example you can easily walk between most sights in Old Town.

Taxi
Many taxi stations throughout the city make this the easiest transportation. To call a taxi, dial 06221/302030.

Public Transport
All parts of the city are well served by public transport. It is managed by VRN, a regional traffic organisation. At the two major stations Hauptbahnhof (railway station) and Bismarckplatz there are offices to get directions or general assistance. The one-way fare is 3,40 DM everywhere inside Heidelberg. For extensive use there are a 24h ticket (10 DM) and a 3-days ticket (20 DM).

Driving a car
Driving a car you should be warned that inside Old Town there are many driving and parking restrictions, which are eagerly supervised by the local administration. Nevertheless, since the city is not that big, you will find your way if you follow the direction signs (like Schloß to get to the castle).
