Berlin is very suitable for those who like markets and second-handshops. For others, Berlin isn't a real shopper's paradise. When you go shopping, you can easily notice the difference between the former western and former eastern area of the German capital. The western site is still far ahead in size, scope and quality of its stores and the merchandise they offer. This area also claims to be the Germany's leading fashion centre.
The main shopping districts are the Kurfürstendamm, Breitscheidplatz and for some bargains stroll the Budapestststrasse and Tauenzienstrasse. Most of the big stores are open 9.30am - 8pm Mon-Fri and between 9am and 4pm on Saturdays. All stores are closed on Sundays, except for small stores in main train stations. In the eastern part of Berlin Unter den Linden and Friedrichstrasse are the main shopping-areas.
Some of the nicest shops and markets are listed under the sublocations of Berlin, where they can be found.
