Frankfurt can compete with major other cities in the world. Although it is the ruthless financial centre of Germany on the one hand, it sure has an impressive cultural and artistic site on the other hand. Especially around the Museumufer (Schaumainkai), the south bank of the Main river, you’ll find an impressive array of museums. Make sure you pay a visit to the Jewish museum, to name only one of them. The heart of the old medieval centre is at Römerplatz, surrounded by several impressive buildings and famous churches such as the St Bartholomäus church or the Dom.
