There are plenty of good locations for dining in or eating out. In most restaurants you can just walk in, but on Saturday or Sunday night reservations may be helpful.
A major part of restaurants you will find in Old Town, or adjacent to popular sights. People say those are the more expensive places, which is true in part. If you are used to free refill of drinks, be warned that this is very uncommon in Heidelberg. For prices please check the listings at the restaurant's entrance. In most cases you will find a detailed menue outside the door you enter.
