Germany

Well, Bonn is not famous for beeing a culinary center of Germany but nevertheless it is not too difficult to find some good restaurants. Here's a short list of our favourites:

Rincon de Espana
Very cosy and rather small Spanish tapas restaurant, lots of people, in summertime you can outside. Open every day besides monday till 1.00am. Expect to wait some time for a table - drink a "Kölsch" at the bar and wait, till the waiters show you your table, they have a fabulous overview above their customers, they are fast, friendly and a good reason to come back again.
Address: Karthäuserplatz 21

Mogul
This is a very small Indian restaurant on the corner Heerstr./Dorotheenstr. in the Altstadt, about 8 min. walk from city center. Has only about 8 tables, so it might be better to reserve; small - but excellent - choice of Indian dishes, not expensive.

Klein Bonnum
Paulstrasse - Altstadt - is about 5 min. walk from city center. The Klein Bonnum is an institution for excellent food in Bonn. The clients are students and former students. Uge choice of very different dishes, some of them prepaired in a rather exotic way, but also very good burgoise kitchen. On weekend it might happen that you have to wait 15-20 before they have a table for you.

Sassella Ristaurante
Excellent and expensive! This restaurant (in Kessenich) is one of the few with national reputation in Bonn. The kitchen is Italian of course, on highest level. Very good choice of wines (I like the Sfursat Valtellina, about 80,- DM/bottle - very rich and heavy).
You can go there by car or tram (61/62 leave at stop "Pützstrasse"); 10 min from city center.

Address: Karthäuserplatz 21
Tel: +49-228-53 08 15

Brauhaus Bönnsch
A must for everyone that is new in Bonn. The kitchen is home cooking German food. You have to try their beer which is home made and called "Bönnsch". It's right in the city center, at the corner of the Friedensplatz.
Tel:+49-228-65 06 10
Address: Sterntorbrücke 4
Tel: +49-228-65 06 10

Pizzeria La Piccola
Actually I always thought it is strange to have such a nice pizzeria right in the center of the town (at the market square) - and it is really not expensive!

I can recommend the Pasta Putanesca or meat - both is very good and cheap.
Address: Bonngasse 4, 53111 Bonn
