Cologne crams over 3.000 pubs, bars and cafes into a relatively small area. Their ubiquitous feature is the city's unique beer, Kölsch. Light and less bitter than Pils, it is served in a tall, thin glass called "Stange", which holds only 0,2 l.

It is nearly impossible to enter a pub in Cologne without finding anyone to chat. If you stand somewhere at the counter it will not take longer than 10 minutes before you get into a conversation with one of the many regulars. Rhinelanders in general are very open towards everyone and they love to talk about their city, the changing of the times, politics and sports.
