Düsseldorf's historic town centre (Altstadt) with its 260 cafes and pubs in one square kilometre, has been nicknamed the longest bar in the world. On Königsallee, also called Kö boulevard by the locals, the Cafés Schröder or König are just two places where the coffee and cake ritual can be pleasantly celebrated. One local specialty to sample is a glass of Altbier, top-fermented beer. If you want to know more about Altbier, check this website

Medienhafen
The newly built and renovated so called 'Medienhafen' next to the tv tower has some nice bars, cafes and clubs, some of them adjacent to the yacht harbour. It is one of the new 'places to be' in Duesseldorf and it is even getting bigger. It is about a ten minutes walk away from the Altstadt.
